Empire Of Rails was created by me, Ryan Casey, as a way to share my interests in traveling and model railroading with the world. The term “Empire” is derived to pay homage to the my home state of New York, USA. On this blog, I will discuss stories about places around the United States, Canada and Europe that I’ve been to and seen, past and present. From the time I was 5 years old.

The main mission of Empire Of Rails is to provide an enriched point of view on many train and travel related topics. I know a lot of information about trains and traveling that is already out there. Be it published in books, videos, or on the internet. But my sole purpose is to actually foster the enjoyment of going on such trips in person, as opposed to watching a 30 minute video or reading a book.

Each post and page will be specifically named after different railroad themes in which I picked up on over the years. For instance, I named the the main blog of this site, “RR Extra-Board Blog”, after a railroad term. Crew Callers used the Extra Board to choose qualified employees to crew trains, and run them from point A to point B. As time permits, I will also post things related to hiking trips and stories of getting to places!

This site will also serve as a platform which combines my personal videography and photography experience over the years with writing stories. Using my own pictures, combined with some credibly researched photos and information (where applicable), I hope to bring quality content and valuable insight to WordPress and beyond.

Empire Of Rails is now on YouTube, Facebook/Meta, SoundCloud, and Flickr. Audio narrations of my blog posts, in conjunction with new videos and topic notices will all be posted there. All links to all Empire Of Rails outlets have been consolidated to the Home Page.
